CHRISTIAN HOPE

When I first approached the concept of salvation, I believed it resembled a ladder-a long climb of good works, where each virtuous act brought me closer to God. I thought I could ascend through my efforts, elevating myself by my deeds. However, my understanding shifted as I discovered that salvation by grace through faith in Christ is more like a beautifully crafted bridge. This bridge, built by Christ’s sacrifice, spans the chasm of sin and despair, providing free passage to all who genuinely believe.

At first, I clung to the belief that I could build my own ladder with good intentions and charitable acts. Each rung represented my striving, but I quickly realized that ladders are precarious and can easily topple. Conversely, the bridge- a symbol of grace- invites me to step away from flawed efforts. Instead of my focusing on my ability to climb, I can walk confidently across, supported by the strength of Christ’s love and mercy.

Now, I understand that my salvation does not depend on my imperfect works but rather on my faith in the One who completed everything. Embracing salvation by grace frees me from all burden of self-reliance, allowing me to rest in the assurance that I am accepted and loved solely through faith in Jesus.
